Ylium: Blockchain Solution for Food Safety

Phase 1

Creative Web Studio Srl entrusted Own Your Business Ltd with the task of providing specialized blockchain consulting for the Purgatory Beans project. This consultancy focused on analyzing production processes, data, and information collection methodologies. Thanks to the collaboration with a team of experts, it was possible to identify the sources and key phases to ensure the authenticity and traceability of the product. These key elements include quality certifications, the production method, multiple residue analysis, the product’s technical data sheet, and information about its origin.

Phase 2

After collecting and analyzing all the necessary data, the information was notarized in the blockchain ledger, generating a secure, transparent, and immutable digital certificate. This certificate was then converted into a unique QR code, which was directly applied to the product. This innovative solution allows anyone — whether distributors or end consumers — to easily access all information related to the product’s origin and traceability simply by scanning the QR code with a smartphone. This ensures maximum transparency regarding the product’s characteristics and journey, thanks to the previously verified and certified information stored on the blockchain.

Check Out the Success Story

The Fagiolo del Purgatorio di Gradoli represents a brilliant example of the efficiency of this approach. This legume, characteristic of the Tuscia region and appreciated since the 1600s, has gained significant benefits from its integration into a blockchain-powered traceability system. This implementation enabled detailed control and validation of every stage of its production and distribution process. The adoption of blockchain made it possible to securely and unequivocally record every phase, from sowing to commercialization, ensuring the authenticity and excellent quality of the product. More info…
